8' tom

I was thinking, when I eventually scrounge up the money, of getting a tom setup like yours, with the 8, 10, 12, 13 up front. But I was wondering about the 8' tom, about moving it higher in order to be able to keep the high hat reasonably close. Have you ever had any problems with this, or advice?

this question was in another tread and
as far as i know george just lifts his arms to reach the 8" tom
furthermore his hi-hat stands more behind than the most drummers have set it

if you have a rack, just displace all toms more to the right

Yes,it's really hard to place it right and get the hi hat close enough.that was always a proble for me...
The way i am setting up the kit now it's the best i can get,i can still have a 8" tom and play my hi hat with my foot, which i do alot.I really need many toms for my bands and i was always playing 4 toms so i just got used to it.

George

I think everyone's had this problem at one point

One thing I would make sure of ist hat the hi hat isn't closer to you then the tom, that makes it hard to reach, although if youe comfortable like George having your hi hats quite far away then this makes 8" tom access alot easier.

I've got 10,12,13,14 for my racked toms, going to try and fit an 8 at the top, that's going to be hard to play
