another problem, it never stops

hey everyone and george kollias hopefully.
i always come to you guys to complain.
do u guys ever have phases where you enjoy one practice and just play shit afterwards and you cant even double bass right.today and yesterday i dident even double bass correctly like other times.my left foot dident do its job right.
is it just a phase or something.how can i recover something like this?

today i felt like i should just quit drumming cause its realy depressing not to be able to play your own band's songs all of a sudden.

and how long should someone practice a day.i dont know if im overdoing it and then lose control or something.
plz help

I have those phases all the time. Just take some time off the drum. And when you feel play again you should be fine.

I think this period has every drummer... this is just like doing some sports... you can't always have the best day... When you feel, that you can't catch up to your usual performances... and do it as Grof Drobikus said... just take some time off to refill you batteries!!

About practicing:
I think you won't be happy about my answer. but you have to find it out which time of practice you need and you feel comfortable with. Blastphemer says that he doesnt need more practice than one hour a day!!

On my own I practice about 1,5 to 2 hours for myself each day. and once/twice a week for about 6 hours with the band...

When someone ask me what is the best to practice or if his practice regimen forks for him my answer is always "you and only you can tell is something good or bad for you". I practice 2-2,5 hours a day, 6 days a week. I had a gig 2 weeks ago and I blew it. 3 days after that I couldn`t play shit. I should take a longer brake.

my band is lucky if i can play the same beats two practices in a row. lol
i only get to practice with the band once every month or two so i forget alot unless we have it recorded. dont feel bad i have junk days too just gotta either practice something you know you can do so its not a waste or just take a break and come back, i might not play anything for 2-4 days after a band practice i find i do best after a break!

Arend will become famous soon enough
I've never had a problem losing my technique. Perhaps your technique is too built around technique and not enough around just doing it. Sometimes people go mental behind the drum kit and psyche themselves out.

Drumming is almost all mental, don't fuck yourself up inside your head and you'll be fine. Don't think so much about conserving energy or your techniques as much as just doing what you want to do. Don't fidget or twitch your legs, get strong and confident.

Well your brain needs some rest too. Don`t tell me you didn`t have days when you can`t play.

We all have bad days. Not only in drumming but in life general. In those days you just cannot play properly.
