axis settings A longboards

Hey George,

The new album(Ithyphallic) is another step of deathmetaldrumming!!
Your drums are incredible and the sound of your kit is asome!
I have again a question about your settings of your pedals.

-On your site you are saying that the beaters are 18,5cm from the head.
-And the beaters are all the way out? Is it about 20cm`s???????????????
How do i measure this distance between the head and the beater?

Many thanks,

William.

hey william its very easy...get a ruler and put one end on the head and measrure until you hit the beater...

speaking of axis settings i just made my axis KICK ASS!!! i have the X and since i played georges pedals im all about high spring tension...so i got the X but the tightest it can go is not really tight...so i go online looking for the A springs( they are tighter) but i come across the HEAVY DUTY springs and i order them..hahaha...when they arived i was kinda suprised, they were very small but Fat!! hahah it took 2 people to put them on the pedal, and they are only about a quarter tight and they are as tight as georges...HORRIBLE!! to bad i dont know how to upload pictures i would show you...

That's the distance of the beater to the drum head when the pedal is mounted on the bass drum and it's stop. It's a little bit more than the factory Axis setting, this is the way i was setting all the pedals in the past.
Some people think that the closer you set your beaters on the kick the faster you can play, for me it's the opposite cause the bigger distance i have the more swing i get from the pedal.
I am going to get some pictures today and upload them so you can see.

George

George
i've had my beaters very close to the head for a long time
and i never have had the power and control like with beaters with more distance
you also are just tapping while having them so close
now is have much more control playing high AND slow tempi

and - that's why i quotate george - you get more swing from the pedal what helps you to play fast

Yeah man, also a related note I've found is that the further back you move your beater the more you feel the springs being tightened, obvious but it makes a great difference, I have my springs as tight as possible (with the nut taken off so I gain even more tightness) and they still don't feel tight enough so I have my beaters around 45 degrees back, maybe a tad more.
