"Cymbal dampening" blast

hi george;
I don't know how to describe this correctly,i saw you doing this in a sickening horror video.You were doing a one footed Blast between your right foot and your left hand,playin 4ths on a crash crash cymbal with the right,and after each stroke you stopped the cymbal before hitting it again.Now how do you practice this?Are there some well working exercises for this?How can i get my right doing this "cymbal dampening" independently?Any ideas?Thanx a lot.
Ah and did you finally get a 70s supraphonic? I like them very much.Which skins did you use on Annihiliation?

Hey,what's up?
-The catch you are talking about is a simple catch every 4/4,if you can keep the blast going without your right hand leading on the ride/hi hat,then you can do many things like that.If you are a single footer this is one of the hardest shit you ever saw...
Exersize?Here is a simple one:Try to play a blast beat with click WITHOUT using your right hand,so actually it's a single stroke role between your right foot/left hand.You lead with your right foot so the kick must be ON the click.This will help you to keep the right balance,you will clean the blastbeat and you will get the "leading with the foot" feel.When you got it in about 50% try it in your music,try some cymbal work with your right hand while your right foot/left hand are keeping the beat.Needs great balance too...
-No Supraphonic...I got another maple monster,it's a Pearl MMX,4ply with gold hardware,sounds killer!
-For the studio and the US tour i used Remo's Emperors (clear),they are 2-ply so they last enough.I got clear Ambassadors on my kit.

George
