Double triggering on AXIS E-kits
Hi George,
I ordered a pair of AXIS E-kits, along with a pair of AXIS 'A' longboard double pedal, but I heard alot of people are struggling with double triggering. (according to the Derek Roddy forum) Have you ever had a problem like that? Or do you have a "special" way on doing your E-kit settings?
They are going to start on them mid of July, so at least I have a bit of time to change my mind (& get a pair of Ddrum triggers instead )
Thanx for being such HUGE inspiration to us all. \m/______\m/

Hey man, don't listen to these bullshit,e-kits are the best...There is double triggering ONLY if you leave your beater on the head after you hit the kick. That's because this little hammer stays on the trigger and causes some false triggering. So,what you have to notice is take the beater off the head...
You got to set the little hammer fires just a hair sooner than you hit the kick, that way the trigger fires up the same time with the kick drum and you skip this latency problem.
I tried DDrums again a couple months ago and they felt fake as fuck,i hit the kick and THEN i hear the trigger. Most of the people that play without triggers and they can't play with Ddrums, you know why?Cause they are not firing up the same time you hit the drum.Plus that you have to set them different on every different stage, hear false triggering because of your bassist,or have your kick full of muffling,so bad that it's like you play anything than a drum.....NO THANKS.............................
I never use triggers unless if i play my band's songs,i tell you, there is nothing closer to real drumming than the ekits.Just you have to know how to set them up and be carefull cause if you play hard on the kicks you will fuck them up soon,i smash about 2 douzins so far..............

Hi George!!
I'm from Italy (sorry for bad english....) and I've some problem with the ekit mounted on a double longboard...
The little detonator mounted on the right pedal touch the "ausiliary head assembly" so it's get broken....
I think it is a project error cause the beater angle is normal, but when I play and the beater rebound the detonator hurts...
I send a mail to axis and they send me (free) a replacement detonator...
Now how can prevent to broke this detonator too???
Anyone has this problem??
Thank you all!!!!!

I've never had any problems with my ddrum triggers. I use ddrum redshot triggers together with my ddrum 4 module. But it could depend on which module you use it with, I hear the triggering at the same time as I hit the kick. So e-kits maybe work better than ddrum triggers for other modules like alesis. But I think ddrum triggers work great with the ddrum module, I haven't tried e-kits so I don't know how it works with ddrum!
George, are you going to record those two samples I asked you about? If you don't have time or if you don't feel like doing it you don't have to, I just want to know! Thanks for all answers and advices! And man I ordered a new drumkit today!! I'm so f**king happy!

8 piece Tama Superstar. 2x22 bd 10 12 13 14 rt 16 ft and a 14"x6,5" snare!
For the ddrum 4 SE I payed about 1100$ (And that was used!!). I guess you've never seen one priced since they are out of production! Clavia the Swedish company that made ddrum sold ddrum to an American company and they haven't continued production of the modules. It works awesome! There should be some ddrum 4's at ebay I think! If you just trigger the kicks, ddrum is a pretty expensive choice though.

Don't be afraid, just be carefull when you carry them all the time.I tour a lot and that's BAD for all the gear, not only for the real sensitive parts of it.They are very sensitive though....and cheaper than every other trigger in the market

Hey man,
i've been reaaaally busy latelly but i will send you the samples soon, propably on Monday.
As for the DDrums, they are great and i used to play with them for a long time. But there is latency that you can't hear until you get the E-kits or something.Everybody who switched from a regular trigger to Axis knows that and we talk about it a lot.
Oh,and have fun with your new monster....glad to see double kick drum sets
