Well I'll suggest that you turn down your springs a bit for the start cause the Axis pedals's springs are waaayyy tighter than any other pedals. You can turn them up by 1 turn every week till you are at full tilt once again.
About the VDL.... try it out more or less in the middle at first & once you get used to it go forward with it to about 3/4 of the way & try it for a week or 2 & then change to 1/4 of the way & see which of the 2 you prefer the best. Hope this explains what you guys are asking.
Stage 2, 3? stage 2 being leg/ankle & stage 3 being only ankes? You need serious power in your ankles to do astroke on the Axis A pedals with the VDL all the way close to you & obiously alot less effort makes the hit when the VDL is all the way forward & makes ankle only hits easier. Again you can start all the way forward & move the VDL backwards by 1mm per week till you get "the-right-feel" for your style.
I'm not all the way there yet, but still digging-hehe
Good luck.
